Janine's Story...

I first discovered Bowen Therapy over 15 years ago when facing my own difficulties with neck and back pain. I had struggled with this issue for many years and it had reached a point where it was affecting my ability to do my work. I tried many different therapies and, although I had temporary relief, the issue was never resolved.

My aunt suggested Bowen Therapy after one of her client's had great success in healing her knee and leg problems. After my first three sessions my neck and back pain was gone and my return visit wasn't until 2 years later. As a Bowen Therapist I have witnessed many similar healing stories.

My experience left such an impression that years later I went on to study Bowen Therapy with Jonathan Damonte. I am so grateful for all that he has taught me and for how Bowen has helped me.

Bowen Therapy is a gentle yet very efficient hands-on therapy that can positively stimulate the body to heal very quickly. While supporting the body as a whole, it addresses the underlying phyisical, chemical, emotional and mental causes of chronic and acute illness.

History of Bowen...

Tom Bowen (1916-1982) started developing the Bowen Technique in the 1950s in Geelong, Australia. After serving in World War II he became interested in ways to alleviate human suffering. Even though Mr. Bowen had no formal healthcare training, he had a unique awareness of how certain moves on the body could result in particular effects. Over the years he refined the effectiveness of his observations. It is reported that he performed 13,000 treatments in a year with an 80% success rate. Mr. Bowen passed on what he had learned to six practitioners and now Bowen is practiced in more than 40 countries. He always stated that the therapy was simply 'A gift from God".

Janine Coney is a Certified Bowen Therapist (CBT) through the North American Bowen Teaching College. She practices the Original Bowen Therapy (Bowen TC) as approved and endorsed by the Tom Bowen Heritage Foundation of Australia Inc.
